Following Leeds United's thrilling 3-3 draw against Liverpool at Elland Road, goalscorer Dominique Calvert-Lewin said the team demonstrated true strength and resilience in the match.
Leeds United twice fell behind in the match, first 0-2, then 2-3. They ultimately secured a draw thanks to a stoppage-time equalizer from Tanaka Ao. Calvert-Lewin ignited the team's comeback in the second half with a penalty.
In a post-match interview, Calvert-Lewin said: "A crazy game, a crazy night. I think tonight was the perfect embodiment of our team spirit, especially at a home stadium like Elland Road. To equalize twice like this, we proved to many people what we can do."
“We put in a tremendous amount of effort on Wednesday and it paid off. We know today will be a different kind of challenge, but equally tough, so we have to give it our all from the start.”
"We were disappointed with the start of the second half, and that's understandable. But the game itself speaks for itself, and we persevered."
Despite the team's last-minute equalizer sending fans into a frenzy, Calvert-Lewin reminded his teammates to stay calm: "I can feel the excitement, but it's important not to get carried away."
Looking back on the week's performance, Calvert-Lewin believes the team should be proud of securing four points against strong opponents: "Four points is a good result for the teams we faced. We must capitalize on this momentum and turn it into nourishment. Every game is a lesson, and we can learn something from everything."
